Keen-eyed science policy observers will have seen the changing of the guard over at Innovate UK before summer. Yes, out with the old and in with the new, and who better than Pointless presenter/sidekick Richard Osman to steer the UK’s innovation funding. After all, a quiz concept based around trying to score the least amount of points is nothing if not innovative.

We very much look forward to seeing what the author of The Thursday Murder Club does at the helm. ‘The Friday Regional Enterprise Networking Event’ doesn’t have quite the same ring, but who knows? This could be the beginning of a beautiful new get together for manufacturers of lead pipes, daggers, pistols and candlesticks.

Any resemblance to Indro Mukerjee is, of course, entirely coincidental.
